Our Services

Our Unique Process:

The Rainbow Center for Children and Adolescents is a unique grief support program sensitive to grief experienced by children. We provide a safe place for grieving children ages 5-18 years old to remember, and value the relationship of the deceased parent. Our groups create opportunities for each child to explore the shock of death, and the many changes that have occurred in their lives. The groups teach children and adolescents to:

 Ø     Identify feelings,

Ø     Express feelings appropriately, and

Ø     Work on developing better coping and communication skills.

Our grief support groups help children:

Ø      Eliminate social isolation

Ø      Express feelings appropriately

Ø      Realize a sense of entitlement to grieve

Ø    Connect with peers

Children need to know that their feelings of grief are normal and find acceptance from others as they give voice to their uncomfortable thoughts. The Rainbow Center for Children and Adolescents helps children progress through the normal process of grief so that they can gradually recover, heal and return to healthy development. Our techniques which have been described as “therapeutic” and “fun” are uniquely designed to help children put pieces back together. They will begin to realize that they can continue their lives and understand that death is a basic part of life.
