Our Mission

To provide at no charge or low cost; grief counseling and grief support groups to children and adolescents. We are dedicated to teaching children how to cope with the loss of a loved one, and find peace within.

Vision

"To promote healing and growth through grief"

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

  • The death of a loved one especially a parent(s) is one of the most fundamental losses a child can experience.
  • The loss of the loved one can have consequences in the home and forever alter the family dynamics which are at the very core of the child’s existence.
  • One out of ten (approximately 9 million) American children face risk factors that may hinder their ability to become healthy and productive adults.

The Rainbow Center for Children and Adolescents is a non-profit organization duly chartered by The State of Tennessee and designated a 501(c) (3) tax exempt organization by the Internal Revenue Service. The Rainbow Center for Children and Adolescents is dedicated to teaching children and adolescents how to grieve peacefully, find peace within, and cope with the loss of a parent, grandparent, sibling, or friend.  To read more about our history, please click here.

Our services include grief support groups, grief counseling, art and poetry therapy, "grief chat" and an educational grief support group for the surviving parent or caregivers . We also teach the surviving parent/caregiver and child how to support each other during the grief process, how to overcome the hurt and pain associated with the loss of a loved one, and how to reduce anger and frustration that the child or parent may feel. We teach various useful tools to carry with them throughout their lives. The Rainbow Center for Children and Adolescents is free of charge or low cost to low-moderate income families that are not able to afford the cost.
